How it works
The gallery is like a living and breathing organism. When a piece is sold, the art gets replaced with something new.
This space is for the artists of Mull and Iona. Artists can as many pieces as they wish. If an artist doesn’t want to sell their work, they can just display it.
Additionally, every year, we hold a joint exhibition with the Highland Games Art Prize. This exhibition is hosted for the entire month of July. This gives the local artists a chance to win prizes, and have their work move forward to the Highland Art Prize.

What is the
The Western Isles Hotel’s Open Art Gallery was started as a way to give back to the local community.
The Isle of Mull and Iona is full of fantastic artists who, we felt, were in need of a new space to showcase their passion. As a hotel, we didn’t know how to get into it until the Mull Highland Games got in touch in 2023 to organise an exhibition of the local artists.
Since then, our gallery has been supported by many of the local artists from Mull and Iona.
