Calum Hall

Calum Hall, an artist with a rich and diverse background, embarked on his artistic journey by studying Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art, where he specialized in the intricate art of printmaking with photopolymers. His creative path then led him to establish his own print and design company, a venture supported by the PSYBT and HIE, where he undertook a wide array of projects, ranging from promotional printing to package design.

Calum's artistic footprint extends nationally, with exhibitions that have garnered recognition and his works gracing the walls of private collections. He is not just a creator but a mentor, having shared his expertise by teaching etching and screen printing workshops.

Beyond his artistry, Calum's professional journey has taken him to An Tobar and Mull Theatre, where he serves as the Marketing Manager. Here, he dons yet another creative hat, designing promotional materials such as posters and brochures.

In his own artistic endeavours, Calum's work delves into the profound themes of light and impermanence. His repertoire spans an array of mediums, including photography, screen printing, solar plates, and oil paints on treated metals, with printing primarily executed on copper and zinc plates. Drawing inspiration from the Japanese art of impermanence, he seamlessly integrates industrial and natural randomization techniques with traditional print and painting methods and materials, forging a unique fusion of the contemporary and the timeless.
