Kathy McAdam was born in South Africa, educated in Edinburgh, and embarked on a nursing career that took her from Wales to London. In 1976, alongside her late husband Derek and two sons, Paul and Jon, Kathy made Tobermory her home. There, they operated the Western Isles Hotel for a total of nine years.

In her 70s, Kathy McAdam took up pottery. Her journey through clay has been one of joyful exploration, marked by the ebb and flow of artistic expression.
